1. Watch video introductions by Michael Bird, author of Evangelical Theology:

2.Read Evangelical Theology
  • “Why an Evangelical Theology?” (xxv-xxxiv) - 10 pages
  • “What is Theology?” (3-5) - 3 pages
  • “What is the Gospel?” (30-37) - 8 pages
  • “The Necessity and Goal of Theology” (44-50) - 7 pages
  • “Sources for Theology” (51-74) - 24 pages
  • “Toward a Gospel-Driven Theological Method” (75-95) - 21 pages
    Total – 73 pages

3.Respond to the following questions on the forum:
  • What are some of the people, experiences, or influences (songs, books, etc) that have shaped the way you view God? Take a couple minutes to brainstorm at least 20 items. Then write a short post listing five of those items, along with a brief explanation of how they impacted you.
  • There are thousands of different denominations out there, all reading the same Bible. In the midst of so many disagreements, how can you confidently believe anything about God?
